For David Omi, Stake’s mission not only inspired him to leave a role in cybersecurity — it’s a way of life. A dedicated budgeter since graduating from San Jose State and starting a career in sales, David tracks every dollar both for peace of mind and to create the life he wants.
Discover what motivates David at work, the method that helps him stick to a budget, and the adventure that he's planning thanks to his Cash Back from Stake.
Why does Stake's mission resonate with you?
I know how challenging it can be to save money, especially as a renter who is aspiring to own a home. Cash Back is on its way to becoming an industry standard across the United States in order to give renters extra income every month while ensuring that properties outperform, and I’m thrilled to be part of that.
What gets you up in the morning?
In my role at Stake, knowing that I’m putting cash in renters’ pockets motivates me every day. Plus, I’m always focused on “the name on the back of the jersey.” Knowing that I’m making my family proud by doing work that helps people drives me, too.
What are some words that you live by?
Anything worthwhile, whether it’s saving money for a big goal or earning an advanced degree, won't happen overnight. Staying focused, such as by making a detailed budget and sticking to it, can lead to a big payoff.
How do you spend your free time?
When I'm not working, my free time is mostly centered around football, both American football and soccer, and spending time with my friends and family. I play in an indoor co-ed soccer league with my wife and it’s fun to do something together that’s sports-related. We also like to bowl, so we’re also joining a bowling league.
What is your Cash Back with Stake going towards?
My responsible answer is that I’ll use the Cash back for our retirement fund and to pay for my wife’s master’s program. My fun answer is white-water rafting in Auburn, California. Budgeting is all about finding a balance.
