5 Questions with Becky Dorschner, Account Executive

Becky Dorschner started in sales over 20 years ago, moved into the real estate world in 2015, and has consistently worked toward her goals with a smile. “My sales motto since I can remember has always been: be pleasantly persistent,” the Wisconsin native shares. Now a Houston resident and member of the Stake team, Becky is eager to continue her sales journey with a reinvigorated mission-driven purpose.

Discover what excites Becky about proptech, the personal connection she feels to Stake’s mission, and why she’s particularly proud of her DuoLingo streak.

How does Stake’s mission to #EmpowerRenters resonate with you?

I feel like there's a change – a disruption – coming into the industry. We are valuing renters more and elevating their voices. It's very exciting for me to be able to join a company that is here to help the owners and operators, while advocating for renters by increasing their financial wellbeing. I have been a renter for my entire adult life, so I am in the shoes of the people that I'm advocating for. That makes me very proud.

As an account executive, what will you be working on?

I’ll be getting the word out about Stake. This is our time to shine, our time to spread awareness in the industry and really get them to look at the way they attract and retain renters. My job is to educate them on how they can do this — and turn that into growth for Stake.

What keeps you excited about working in this industry?

Real estate is used to doing things the way they've always done them – they're a bit slow to grab onto the latest and greatest, best, and newest technologies. So that presents a new challenge every single day. It's not just about selling; oftentimes, we have to educate people. I really thrive on building relationships, and educating people on things that can make their businesses and lives more efficient.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

I like to be active. I bike, I do pilates about four to five times a week. I walk a lot. I do things that make my soul smile.

A fun fact about me: in my lifetime, I have lived in Florida, Texas, and Arizona – places where a lot of people speak Spanish. I always wished I knew Spanish. So, at the beginning of the pandemic, I began learning the language. I am currently on a 1,015 day learning streak — and I’m in the top 1% of people on DuoLingo!

You’re a Staker who will be getting Cash Back from Stake. What will you save it for?

A really nice beach vacation. Anywhere with blue water!
