Why we took the week off

We just closed the books on July. Stake's monthly recurring revenue grew 50%. Certainly, that was an exciting first. One that our team has worked hard to achieve.

Another important first is our first Stake Week. Here's how we decided to take one full week off every year for the whole team.

Jimmy, my brilliant co-founder and director of engineering, and I noticed back in June that our incredible team had been working nonstop. The little green dot on Slack — those of you who are remote workers know what I mean — was nearly omnipresent for far too many of the team at all possible hours. We decided one week off for the entire team was needed to refresh, recharge, and celebrate what, in a very short time, we've accomplished. We picked the second week in August as that week off, and then the team called it Stake Week.

The name stuck. Now, Stake Week is going to happen every year. It's part of who we are, how we work, and when we celebrate and reflect.
